BIODATA

          Dr.S.Mahadevan (was born on 10.04.1974 Ponnmaravathi, Pudukottai District.

Education:

He was educated at St.Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai from 1992- 1998 for his undergraduation, postgraduation and M.Phil programme in Tamil.                 He was awarded Doctoral Degree in Tamil in 2010 for his thesis titled on “The Creative Writings of Vannadasan”. He clearedUGC NET in 1997.

Dean of Arts & Head of the Department of Tamil:

          He joined Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli, as Lecturer in Tamil on 10.07.1998. He is heading the Department of Tamil since 2004. He was promoted as Associate Professor of Tamil and was nominated as Dean of Arts.

Editor:

He has co-ordinated 12 National and International seminars / conferences on varied topics. He has edited 28 books which include textbooks, collection of poems and conference proceedings.


 

Youth Welfare Coordinator:

Ø He has served as Youth Welfare Coordinator for seventeen years.

Audition Board Member: All India Radio

Ø He is in the Audition Board of All India Radio, Govt. of India for the last 5 years (from 2014 - till date)

Ø He has written 70 atricles on “Tamil Literarure”, “Self-Confidence”, “Social Awareness” and “Education”, and were published by the leading Tamil Dailies such as Daily Malar, Daily Thanthi and Hindu Tamil.

Tamil Researcher:

Ø He has presented 80 articles at National and International seminars / conferences. He is an approved Research Supervisor for guiding the research scholars of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu. He is on the Doctoral Committees of 36 Institutions in Tamil Nadu.


 

IXth World Tamil Conference: Malaysia

Ø He was invited by the University of Malaya, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, for attending an International conference on “Medicinal Notes in Thirukural” conducted by the Govt. of Malaysia in January 25, 2015.

BOOKS WRITTEN

Poihai Azhwar & Boothathalwar:

Two of his books titled “Poihai Azhwar” and “Boothathalwar” were released at the IXth World International Conference by Datto S. Samy Vellu, President of Malaysian Indian Conference, in the presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak.

Vannadasan & Erai Arul Kavi Mani K. Abdul Gafoor:

          His books on Vannadhasan and Abdul Gafoor titled “Vannadhasan” and “Erai Arul Kavi Mani K. Abdul Gafoor respectively were jointly released by School of Indian Languages, University of Malaya and Annamalai University, Chidambaram in 2016. The writer Vannadhasan belongs to Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He has written 170 short stories and 1000 modern poems in Tamil. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2016 for his short story collection titled “Oru Siru Isai”. Prof.K.Abdul Gafoor was born in Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. He was a notable scholar, poet, orator and writer.

E-Content: Tamil Virtual University:

          Dr.S.Mahadevan has developed an e-content titled “Sittilakiyankalum Puranakalum” in 2015 for Virtual University, Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Text Book Committee Moderator:

He was nominated by the Department of School Education, Govt. of Tamil Nadu as Moderator for writing Special Tamil Textbooks for Plus One students.

Thaneer Oosihal a collection of Modern Poems:

          A collection of his modern poems titled “Thaneer oosihal” poems consisting of 239 poems were published by Melum Publisher, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu in 2017. The reviews on the poems were featured in Tamil Dailies Weeklies and Monthlies like Kumudam and Kanayali.

The Voice of Time:      

His seventh book titled “The Voice of Time” was published by Mahabarathi Publications, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu in 2018. His writings have been uploaded on Chemmozhi Tamil.com and Mahabarathi Blot Sopt.com.

Minor Research Project:

          He had been sanctioned a Minor Research Project in the year 2009 by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, amounting to Rs. 60,000/- The topic was “Nature in Vannadhasan’s Writings” The project report was uploaded on Inflipnet, the official website of Human Resource Development Centre, Govt. of India. An ISSN E-Journal “Padhivugal” published from Canada has published his research articles on various topics.

AWARDS WON

Prime Minister’s National Award:

1.     Received Sadbhavana Prime Minister’s National Award in 1994 Essay Writing Competition conducted by Human Resource Development, New Delhi, from Shri. P.V.Narasima Rao, Former Prime Minister of India.

Eight World Tamil Conference Chief Ministers Award

2.     Won State Level First Prize in Eight World Tamil Conference Essay Writing Competition conducted by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. He received a Gold Medal from Selvi. J. Jayalalitha, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, in 1995.

Tamil Nadu Governor Award:

3.     Received National Award in 1996 from Dr.Chenna Reddy, Formerly Governor of Tamil Nadu for the research paper entitled “The Belief of the People in Siddha Remedies”

Kamban Kazhagam Award:

4.     Won State Level First Prize in Seerapuranam Essay Writing Competition conducted by Kamban Kazhaham, Chennai, in 1995. The prize was given by Justic M.M.Ismail, Former High Court Judge, Tamil Nadu.

Gold Medal:

5.     Won State Level First Prize in Essay Writing Competition on “Abolition of Drug” conducted by Drug Abolition Centre, Chennai. He received a Gold Medal from Justice Nadarajan, Former Supreme Court Judge, New Delhi.

Dr.Radha Krishnan The Best Teacher Award:

6.     Received Dr.Radha Krishnan The Best Teacher Award in 2008 from Lions Club of Cathedral, Chennai for his contributions for the noble cause of  education and teaching.

The Young Academician Award:

7.     Got the Best Young Academician Award in 2011 from Lions Club, Tirunelveli City, for promoting Tamil Studies and Research, and Creating Writing.

Maha Swamigal Jeyanthi Award

8.     Received Maha Swamigal Jeyanthi Award in 2016 for his remarkable contributions for Tamil Literature. The Award was given by Shri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, The Acharya of the Shri. Kanji Kamakodi Peetham.

Tamil Maamani Award

9.     Received Tamil Maamani Award from Thiru.Ila Ganesan, President of Thamarai Literary Association in 2016. The award was instituted by Kavithai Uravu Literary Journal, Chennai.

Literary Award:

10.                        Got a Special Award from Theni Literary Center, Theni in 2017. The award was given by Sahitya Akadami Awardee Writer Prabhanjan.
